The Opportunity

The Data Product Manager (DPM) is a hybrid role that bridges the gap between business stakeholders and IT/data specialists. Positioned within the Data & Analytics function, the DPM ensures data products are strategically aligned, technically sound, and business-value-driven. Acting as the primary interface between the D&T Business Partner, Dechra business teams and other partners.  The DPM ensures that data products are developed iteratively, operationalised effectively, and embedded into decision-making processes.

Role Responsibility

So, what will you be doing? This role has a broad and varied remit and the successful candidate will have responsibility for duties including:

Product Mindset & Delivery

  • Own the full lifecycle of data products, applying agile, iterative development practices.
  • Translate business needs into actionable product features and maintain a prioritised backlog.
  • Continuously gather feedback from users to refine and evolve products.

Business Value Focus

  • Anchor each data product to a clear business outcome—e.g., revenue growth, efficiency, or customer insight.
  • Prioritise features that deliver tangible impact and support faster, better decisions.

Hybrid Business-IT Collaboration

  • Act as a strategic connector between business functions and technical teams, ensuring mutual understanding and shared goals.
  • Leverage business context to guide technical decisions, and vice versa, ensuring solutions are both feasible and impactful.
  • Maintain strong alignment with the Data & Analytics function to avoid technical isolation and ensure enterprise-wide consistency.

Technical Depth & Partner Oversight

  • Collaborate with engineers, architects, and delivery partners to ensure scalable, secure, and reliable delivery.
  • Monitor platform performance and ensure alignment with the data product roadmap.
  • Define and track SLAs and KPIs with the business and partners to ensure quality execution.

Advanced Analytics Integration

  • Partner with data scientists to embed predictive models and advanced analytics into data products.
  • Ensure analytical outputs are intuitive, explainable, and actionable for business users.

Actionable Outcomes

  • Deliver insights through intuitive dashboards and straightforward visual storytelling.
  • Provide documentation, training, and support to drive adoption and enable decision-making.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • With Head of Data Governance & Enablement: Provides the guardrails and infrastructure for data products to thrive. With Head of MDM: Leverage authoritative master data for consistency and trust.
  • With Head of Enterprise Data Model (Lead Data Architect): Align with enterprise architecture for scalable, interoperable products.
