The Opportunity
The Director of SEC Reporting is responsible for leading the preparation, review, and filing of all external financial reporting documents required by the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), including Forms 10-K, 10-Q, 8-K, earnings releases, and other regulatory filings. This role ensures full compliance with U.S. GAAP, SEC regulations, and internal control requirements. The role provides enterprise-wide strategic leadership on complex financial reporting matters, collaborates closely with Investor Relations and senior leadership, and drives continuous improvement across external reporting processes, systems, and disclosure controls. The Director is accountable for influencing Group-level reporting strategy, enhancing associated internal controls, and ensuring alignment across global finance teams.
Role Responsibility
So, what will you be doing? This role has a broad and varied scope and the successful candidate will have responsibility for duties including:
SEC Reporting & Disclosure Management
- Oversee the preparation and timely filing of 10-K, 10-Q, 8-K, 11-K and all required SEC submissions.
- Manage drafting, XBRL tagging, quality checks, and cross-functional coordination for disclosure materials.
- Ensure all filings are accurate, complete, and compliant with SEC Regulation S-K, S-X, and U.S. GAAP.
- Lead the development of earnings materials, MD&A, footnotes, non-GAAP disclosures, and executive summary content.
- Drive the quarterly disclosure committee process, including issue identification and status updates.
- Drive the Group’s take up of the Workiva tool for external and internal reporting.
- Provide executive-level oversight of disclosure governance, ensuring Group-wide consistency and uplift.
Technical Leadership
- Serve as the internal expert on U.S. GAAP reporting and SEC rules.
- Lead stock-based compensation and earnings per share accounting.
- Provide authoritative guidance on complex transactions, ensuring alignment with evolving regulatory expectations
Internal Controls, SOX & Governance
- Strengthen disclosure controls and procedures (DC&P) and internal controls over financial reporting (ICFR).
- Ensure reporting processes meet SOX 302 and 404 requirements.
- Partner with global control owners to design scalable governance frameworks and reduce control risk across regions.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Work closely with FP&A, Controllership (including Technical Accounting and Consolidations teams), Legal, Treasury, Tax, Investor Relations, HR, and business units.
- Support Investor Relations during earnings cycles, including review of scripts, Q&A, and supporting analyses.
- Coordinate with external auditors on quarterly reviews and annual audits.
- Influence senior stakeholders, driving alignment on reporting positions and disclosure messaging.
Process, Systems & Transformation
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives to shorten reporting timelines, enhance quality, and strengthen governance.
- Drive automation, including reporting tools, XBRL platforms, and disclosure management systems (e.g., Workiva).
- Implement best-practice reporting structures and benchmarking against peer companies.
- Lead transformation initiatives with Group-level impact, ensuring scalability and standardization across global reporting teams.
Team Leadership & Development
- Build and lead a high-performing SEC reporting team; set expectations and drive accountability.
- Establish succession plans, coach team members, and elevate technical expertise across the function.
- Foster a culture of performance, collaboration, and continuous learning.
- Provide leadership to cross-regional reporting teams, shaping talent strategy and capability development at scale.
The Ideal Candidate

- 15+ years progressive experience in external reporting, technical accounting, controllership, or audit.
- Extensive knowledge of U.S. GAAP, SEC regulations, Sarbanes-Oxley, and emerging guidance.
- Demonstrated experience overseeing SEC filings for a public company.
- Experience with disclosure management tools (e.g., Workiva,).
- Strong analytical, writing, and executive communication skills.
- Proven track record of leading teams and influencing senior stakeholders
- Experience shaping reporting strategy in a global, matrixed organization.
- CPA required, Big 4 public accounting experience strongly preferred.
- Experience participating in the disclosure review committee process
- Occasional business travel as required
