The Opportunity 

The Vice President of Sales will serve as a key member of the Commercial Sales Leadership Team and will be a transformative leader responsible for driving growth, innovation, and performance across both the Field-based and Inside Sales organizations. The VP of Sales will lead the sales strategy to increase market share, expand customer relationships and improve profitability. With a focus on leading through change, the VP of Sales will foster a high-performance culture, strengthen sales capabilities, and align the organization to deliver sustainable revenue growth and margin expansion. 

So, what will you be doing? This role has a broad and varied scope and the successful candidate will have responsibility for duties including:

Key Responsibilities 

  • Strategic Sales Leadership
    1. Define and execute a forward-looking sales strategy to grow market share and improve margins across all channels. 
    2. Lead national Field and Inside Sales teams, ensuring alignment with corporate goals and customer expectations. 
    3. Translate corporate vision into actionable plans with clear KPIs and outcomes.  
  • Organizational Transformation & Change Leadership
    1. Lead the sales organization through transformation, modernizing processes, tools and talent to drive scalability and agility.
    2. Champion a performance-driven culture focused on accountability, innovation and adaptability. 
    3. Identify and address capability gaps through targeted development, structure and redesign, or hiring strategies. 
  • Sales Execution & Operational Excellence
    1. Oversee sales forecasting, territory planning and resource allocation to optimize coverage and efficiency. 
    2. Ensure consistent execution of sales processes, pipeline management, and CRM utilization across teams. 
    3. Drive adoption of sales enablement tools and technology to support high-impact selling. 
  • Customer & Market Growth
    1. Deepen engagement with veterinary clinics to drive loyalty and expanded reach.
    2. Partner closely with Marketing, Strategic Partnerships, Medical and Supply Chain to ensure cohesive messaging and market differentiation. 
    3. Monitor competitive activity and industry trends to proactively adjust strategies. 
  • Cross-functional Collaboration & Executive Influence
    1. Serve as the voice of the sales organization in executive planning forums and cross-functional initiatives. 
    2. Collaborate with Finance, Operations, and Commercial Leadership to drive margin improvement and Go-To-Market effectiveness.
    3. Influence enterprise-wide priorities by representing frontline insights and market needs.  
  • Financial Oversight and Budget Management
    1. Set strategic financial objectives with clear financial goals that align with Dechra’s overall strategic vision, focusing on sustainable growth and market expansion.
    2. Utilize financial forecasting tools and employ comprehensive forecasting techniques to inform strategic resource allocation and programming efforts aimed at achieving budgetary targets.
    3. Implement strategic budget reviews to evaluate performance against financial targets, ensuring adaptability based on market dynamics.
    4. Manage competitive pricing strategies that align with the company’s broader strategic goals, encouraging revenue growth while maximizing customer value perception.
    5. Provide senior leadership with in-depth financial analysis and strategic recommendations, facilitating informed decision-making and future planning.

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Marketing, Finance or related field
  • Minimum of 15 years of experience in Animal Health, with at least 7 years in a senior role managing and developing people leaders
  • Experience navigating market dynamics, regulatory environments and competitive landscapes
  • Proven track record of success building and sustaining relationships with key stakeholders, including veterinary clinic owners. 
  • Proven success leading large, multi-channel sales organizations through transformation and growth in the animal health or related healthcare industry. 
  • Expert in identifying client pain points and delivering customized solutions that enhance satisfaction and loyalty, consistently exceeding sales targets. 
  • Proven experience implementing business plans that drive market share and profitable revenue growth in fast-paced, entrepreneurial settings. 
  • Excellent negotiation, communication and relationship building skills
  • Proven business and financial acumen with a data-driven mindset and decision making
  • Customer focused professional demeanour and presentation style 
  • Computer Skills (MS Office and ability to learn Dechra systems)
  • Valid Driver’s License and able to drive a vehicle
  • Travel: 30-40%
