Value Stream Leader – Manufacturing
Day shift, 0800-1630 hrs, Mon-Fri
9 Day fortnight (every second Friday off)
Skipton, site-based role
The Role
Are you a people‑centred leader who thrives in a fast‑paced manufacturing environment? Do you enjoy bringing teams together, driving performance, and creating a workplace where everyone feels empowered to do their best work? If that sounds like you, we’d love to welcome you as our next Manufacturing Value Stream Leader at Dechra.
This is a fantastic opportunity to take full ownership of a Manufacturing Value Stream — operating almost like your own “mini‑site” within the wider organisation. You’ll set the direction, shape the culture, and ensure your team delivers high‑quality products safely, efficiently, and in line with our commercial goals.
A Little About Us
Dechra are a growing, global specialist within the world of veterinary pharmaceuticals. Our expertise is in the development, manufacture, marketing and sales of high-quality products exclusively for veterinarians worldwide. It’s a great time to join our modern Skipton facility and further investment for the Skipton site means that we’re in an exciting period of positive change for the business.
Here at Dechra, our values are embedded within our culture and thrive within our family of almost 2000 colleagues globally. From manufacturing to marketing, (D)edication, (E)njoyment, (C)ourage, (H)onesty, (R)elationships and (A)mbition are at the heart of our everyday operations and the way we do business.
What You’ll Be Doing
As the Manufacturing Value Stream Leader, you’ll define and deliver the operational plan for your area, ensuring that every batch is produced safely, to specification, and on schedule. You’ll lead a multi‑functional team, set clear priorities, and create an environment where people feel motivated, supported, and accountable.
You’ll champion the One Dechra Production System (ODPS), using its tools and principles to drive continuous improvement and strengthen the capability of your team. From building skills and flexibility to fostering ownership and engagement, you’ll play a key role in developing a high‑performing, empowered workforce.
Communication and collaboration will be central to your success. You’ll work closely with Quality, Engineering, MS&T, Regulatory Affairs and Supply Chain to ensure processes are robust, equipment is reliable, and customer demand is met without compromise. You’ll also ensure new products, technology transfers and lifecycle projects are well planned and executed through strong cross‑functional teamwork.
Looking ahead, you’ll develop capital investment plans that ensure the Manufacturing Value Stream has the capacity and capability to support the next five years of growth. And with a strong focus on safety, quality and compliance, you’ll ensure your area is always inspection‑ready and operating to cGMP standards.
What Success Looks Like
You’ll know you’re making an impact when:
- Products are manufactured on time, in full, and within budget
- Your team feels engaged, valued, and empowered
- Quality issues are resolved quickly and effectively
- Continuous improvement becomes part of everyday thinking
- CAPEX projects land on time and deliver real value
- The Manufacturing Value Stream consistently meets its PSQDC targets
- You help build a culture where people genuinely enjoy coming to work
What You’ll Bring
You’ll be someone who leads with integrity, energy and ambition — a role model for our Dechra values. You’ll have extensive experience in a regulated or compliance‑driven manufacturing environment, with a strong operational background and a solid understanding of production, engineering, quality and facilities.
You’ll bring commercial awareness, confidence in leading change, and the ability to inspire and influence others. Experience with Lean or operational excellence is important, as is the ability to communicate clearly and bring people with you. Knowledge of GMP, regulatory expectations, and pharmaceutical manufacturing will help you hit the ground running. Lean Six Sigma accreditation is also desirable.
Why You’ll Love Working with Us
You’ll be joining a supportive, collaborative team where your ideas are valued, and your work genuinely makes a difference. Every day brings something new, and you’ll have the chance to grow your skills, build strong relationships, and contribute to a site that prides itself on quality, safety, and continuous improvement.
