Your next adventure
As a Dispensary Technician, you’ll play a vital role in achieving planned production for the site on a daily basis. You’re at the very start of the production process, dispensing raw materials, both solid dose and liquid format, allowing the rest of Manufacturing to have what they need to create the products for our vets and pets.
Think of it like baking a cake, you’re following a set recipe of work instructions and what we call standard operating procedures or SOPs. The raw materials are the ingredients, and we need to make sure they’re the correct weight, volume, etc.
We work to a high standard and in what we call ‘Right First Time’ culture. If we get things wrong at the start of the process, then everything else after is negatively impacted, so it’s key that we don’t deviate or go out of process. The Dispensary Team sit within the Manufacturing arm of the Skipton site and is located within our goods-in warehouse.
So, what will you be doing?
You’ll be joining a team of 6, including 2 senior staff members. Working in teams of two, you’ll be tasked with initial prep of the dispensing bay, which includes full clean downs to ensure the equipment is fit for purpose.
You’ll work from batch documentation, picking anywhere from 5 to 20 different raw materials. Weighing out specific amounts for various types of batches and dispensing, safely securing solid dose and liquid form materials in tamper-proof cages, ready for manufacturing to use ahead of their shift.
Some of the raw materials used to create our products can be hazardous, so you’ll need to be comfortable wearing the correct PPE, which includes full overalls/suit, air hood and filtration pack.
You’ll be required to cross-check your colleagues' work and vice versa to ensure a ‘Right First Time’ approach is consistently achieved. We have digital processes in some areas of the business, but still have a lot of paper-based manual processes when it comes to batch documentation. Attention to detail and confidence to raise any issues or concerns are a key part of what makes this function run smoothly.
What makes you awesome
If you've worked in Pharmaceuticals or other heavily regulated industries before, great! Equally, we'd still love to hear from you if you're looking to gain more experience in this area. You'll need to be well organised, ideally with some experience of working within a GMP environment and comfortable working with batch documentation
An appreciation of weighing out different types of materials will stand you in good stead. Planning is key. Before you head into the dispensary area, make sure you have all the equipment you need.
We’ll look to you to have a proactive mindset and flag any concerns to the correct teams. Honesty really is the best policy, and it’s also one of our core values. If you are unsure or have made a mistake, we expect you to be open and honest. We have a healthy culture, we don’t point the finger, we’re all human, we learn from our mistakes, and continually look to improve processes and SOPs. Health and safety are the most important things across the site; we expect you to look after yourself and those around you.
